Will clarity appear before me soon
And guide my footsteps straight through the unknown?
For doubt crowds close, I need it overthrown
If ever from despair to be immune.
Time marches on and I can't see ahead
To that which future's bosom holds for me.
That maybe peace awaits, I must agree.
To walk this life alone fills me with dread.
The line of understanding's often blurred
And feelings often cloud judicious thought.
Tis better to have loved and lost I've heard.
From where I stand that could be called absurd.
Yet truth be told perfection lost has taught
That Alfred's words, the heart knows are preferred.
