Horizon haze by summer solstice glow
A year half past, the waxing heat's ascent
Reminds me 'gain that I'm insane, content
To suffer sweating like so long ago.
To pick and choose among the seasons? No!
The changes give us reasons to lament.
No distance winter of our discontent
Lies in the past, for in our future's snow.
Before that last revolving year awakes,
With passion revel in the here and now.
Don't be a dragonfly inside a jar
And sit content, to never up the stakes.
Reflect we must, but futures must allow.
The joy to come, in darkness, seems bizarre.
